Inpatient coverage (often called "Hospital & Surgical" insurance) refers to medical treatment that requires you to be admitted to a hospital and stay overnight or longer. This usually involves serious medical conditions, surgeries, or accidents.
Examples include:
- Major surgeries (e.g., appendicitis removal).
- Treatment for severe illnesses requiring hospital monitoring.
- Accident recovery requiring a hospital bed.
- Day surgeries (sometimes classified under inpatient depending on the policy).
How Soda addresses inpatient care
Currently, Soda focuses exclusively on Outpatient care (GP, Dental, Specialist, Flex). Plans are designed to manage the high-frequency, day-to-day medical visits that traditional insurers often handle slowly or with high paperwork.
Does Soda replace my hospital insurance?
No. Most companies use Soda alongside their existing Group Hospitalization & Surgical (GHS) insurance.
- Keep your current GHS plan for big hospital bills and major surgeries.
- Use Soda to manage daily GP visits, dental, and wellness benefits.
Can I track inpatient claims on Soda?
Not yet. However, we are building Soda Pro (launching soon), which will introduce comprehensive inpatient coverage options, allowing you to manage both hospital and clinic visits on a single platform.
